The keel bone, also known as the sternum, is a prominent bone found in most birds. It is an extension of the sternum that projects outward and provides an anchor for the powerful flight muscles.

The ocellated turkey (Meleagris ocellata) is characterized by its iridescent plumage, slender neck, and strikingly colorful head with bright blue skin and vivid orange-red nodules.
